Financial Support

Participants in the Russian Overseas Flagship have access to a number of funding options for studying abroad, including but not limited to:

Boren Scholarship for International Study

Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

The Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide.

Russian Flagship Scholarship

A source of supplemental funding for students who are studying at some summer Russian language programs domestically, Advanced Russian Language and Area Studies Program Summer with American Councils, or Russian Overseas Flagship (Overseas Flagship Capstone). Applicants must be enrolled in a Flagship program at their home institution and registered in the Flagship database.
